Senior Finance Control & Reporting Accountant

Knowledge

Close identified Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR) gaps against Business standards

Prior experience of working in a regulated financial services company

Good level of PC Skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Experience of Dynamics 365 accounting software

Report regularly on the status of financial controls on the risk management system (Decision Focus Next)

Ensure compliance with relevant Business Standards and Policies for areas of responsibility

Establish credit write back processes in line with Group policy

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience

Experience of working in a financial control environment

Degree level education, preferably mathematical, statistical, finance or economics or same via experience


Skills

Identify control failings, weaknesses, breaches, near misses, errors and omissions

Demonstrable experience of influencing at all levels and achieving positive outcomes

Ability to present financial complex issues to non-Finance users

Ensure adherence with Group accounting policies

Lead role in handling the relationship with the external auditors

Ability to operate independently to drive forward activity and deliver positive outcomes

Process improvement and streamlining of monthly tasks

Ensure all financial reporting is compliant with the relevant accounting standards

Review monthly financial results, balance sheet reconciliations, insurer bordereaux and cash flow forecasts

Completion of Financial sections of the RMAR returns

Comfortable with complex financial modelling

Deputise for Head of Financial Control as required

Behaviours

Highly numerate and comfortable with complex financial scenarios

Support the integrity of the financial control environment including assessing the effectiveness of accounting systems, controls, records and monitoring mechanisms

Maintain the SMCR overview of controls to ensure adherence with relevant standards and identify future gaps

Completion of project tasks

Reduce the levels of unallocated cash balances and similar balances

Track record of continuous development & improvement

Working in a deadline driven environment
