Accounts Assistant

Knowledge

Documentation of procedures and controls for assigned areas of the balance sheet

Knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102

Experience of external reporting including annual statutory accounts

Working towards a professional qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)

Experience of working in the insurance broking sector

Experienced user of reporting packages such as TM1

Skills

Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with non-finance stakeholders effectively

Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Support the month end close process by creating and posting accurate journals

Complete balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner, ensuring that there is adequate backup for balances and that all open items are cleared within agreed timescales

To review balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with departmental guidance to ensure accuracy and control around balance sheet items

Deep domain expertise with excellent technical accounting skills

Provide assistance in compiling the external and internal reporting e.g. statutory accounts and backing schedules

Continuous Improvement and simplification owner for assigned areas of cost / balance sheet

Excellent Excel skills

Experienced user of financial software, such as SUN

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
