About Football for Change

Football for Change was launched in 2021 to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing life-changing opportunities in education, employment and sport. We’re so proud to be involved with the charity, with our very own Swinton Group as the founding sponsor and Ian Donaldson as Co-Chair.

The charity uses the power of football to change lives. It brings business leaders and football stars together to provide young people with life-changing opportunities in education, employment and sport to help them develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Since launching, Football For Change has sent over 80 disadvantaged young people from Merseyside on a month-long education and sports retreat to Texas, helped fund the development of a new education hub at the Brunswick Youth Community Centre in Bootle and has partnered with Local Solutions to provide job training to homeless young people. The charity is set to allocate a further £150,000 in funding to projects focused on young people this month.

This month’s fundraiser was attended by business leaders and sport stars including Jamie Carragher, Conor Coady and our very own Ardonagh Retail CEO, Ian Donaldson. Organisers shared inspiring stories about how the charity grants have been spent so far, there was a live performance from Emeli Sandé, an all-star football line up and a charity auction. Comedian and broadcaster John Bishop also hosted an exclusive Q&A with footballers in attendance.
